Learn to Hunt 2009 (pictures added)
This last weekend my local chapter of the NWTF, Bluff Country Long Spurs, held our 11th Learn to Hunt Program. We partner with the WI-DNR and a bunch of generous local landowners and volunteer mentors to be able to provide a 1st turkey hunt. We try to target those who may not otherwise get the opportunity to hunt, this year we were able to introduce turkey hunting, and the outdoors to 12 kids and 1 adult. While the weather Sunday morning was less than ideal, (30 degrees, 20-30mph wind and snow/sleet) we were able to harvest 2 gobblers and 2 jakes during the sunrise to noon hunt. All in all a good morning and a great experience for the hunters and us mentors.
