legislation

DC,

Nothing personal, but I think you have mixed interests in this issue. If you think land access is not an issue in Illinois, then you are extremely lucky or know a lot of landowners. Go to the Illinois bowsite and bring up the ease of land access.... you will be in for a real fight. If you gained easy access to Pike Co. IL land then you better start playing the lottery.... you are lucky man.

Kelcher Bingo!I agree with you on most every point you made. My Opinion; This is not a hunter vs. hunter issue. This is an issue of Iowa voters having a say in what kind of laws are passed in their state. If you are opposed to 2248 and 2249 for goodness sake let the legislators know.

I wonder how this happens. We learn about these bills weeks before they are going to be voted on. We need a watch dog out there to post when there is a issue at stake.

As far as the fighting between the Resident & Non-resident hunters.
I can only say, we live here.

I am 24/7 deer fanatic. I looked at the record books, have read the articles. They all pointed to Iowa

So I transfered up here. And I bought some land. I moved here from Texas Which if you don't know is a LEASE STATE.
If you don't have any money your chances at a trophy are very, very slim. And the chances of you keeping that ground to hunt are also slim in that state. There is allways someone around that has a little more cash. I have been knocked of a lease a time or two.

This state is everything and more. I have access to alot of ground, and all it cost me is a little of my time when the farmer needs a hand & some meat. A small price to pay.

I have seen more trophy deer in the two yrs I been here, then the 16 yrs combined in Texas. Reason Not enough Money to get on a good lease.

Sadly, a lot of our concerns are because of the I want mine, I bought mine, and I do not care about the rest of you. What are our priorities?

I guess if it came down to it, I would rather hunt scab bucks beside the rest of you than buy or lease you out of my territory. And I have no problem of lowering the NR tag prices and having some more non residents who want to just come to hunt and not control the residents hunting.

I was lucky to learn about a hunting that was not a business and the only scores you kept were your memories of fellowship with friends and family.

If you have your feelings on these issues one way or the other be sure to share them with the legislators.

My reply is to the original post concerning kelcher's Bad investment statement.Four years ago I bought 450 acre near Albia For about 400 an acre A farm 5 miles from mine with the same mix of timber and AG sold recently for 1300 an acre at Auction.

Sorry Kelcher,
It was in the post below yours that I was refering to.

Steve,

I don't think I said anything about the purchase of land as a bad investment. I think that may have been in a post under mine. I think that purchasing land is a very wise investment. The value is only going to go up.
