the state of illinois has legislation in progress to drive high-end firearms builder les baer out of the state. he has put in a bid on some land in le claire iowa. a local pastor and his wife, put in a bid of $500 over baer's bid, to block the sale of the land, in oppisition to the gunamaker coming to the town. les baer makes high-end .45 pistols, and match grade parts, as well astheir own version of an AR-15 rifle. these are high-end, top notch quality, and a very costly gun.

this would be a great addition to our state, and if le claire screws the pooch on this, i would hope that another town jump up and makes room for this company. what community in their right mind, could turn away manufacuring jobs?

I too think this would be great for the state. One of my wifes uncles is a huge gun nut from Davenport and he has a .45 and a custom AR-15 style rifle from him and man are they nice. I sure hope the anti's don't ruin this.

I've been folowing this in the paper as there's been something in the QC Times about everyday. One of the "concerns" is that they are worried about what it would do to property values. I'm not real familiar with LeClaire, but the proposed sight is apparently next to the sewer treatment plant. How the hell is a gunmaker's shop going to make property value any lower than a sewer plant would?

Les ought to build his new shop one county to the north.

SIOUX CITY?

There raising a big enough stink about it that it made the news last night. I don't understand what "bad" it would bring to the area.

who are these people??

Hell, if he is looking for some ground to put his shop on and he will pay me, I will donate some of my ground. This would be great for the state.

Or if I can be a "investor" in the company for a couple years I will pitch in a few hundred to out bid the pastor and his wife.

This would be a great opportunity for the state let alone the city they are trying to go to.

Last night, the city voted "yes" in favor of allowing this manufacting facility to be built in their city. They said that they heard from more people in favor than against.
