I had a very interesting conversation with local mushroom hunter at our coop. He says in the last 2 or 3 years, he is finding less and less shrooms next to crop field edges, where he used to find bag fulls of them. He wanted to know what was going on in the fields to maybe "kill out" the shrooms. This struck quite an interest with me.
If alot of you are familar with row crops, specifically corn, you know that Headline application has doubled since last year, and it will triple this year. Headline is a fungicide that is sprayed on corn after tasseling to prevent stalk and root disease. Now, have you guys been finding less mushrooms next to crop fields in the last few years? Headline is applied my airplane, which in turn gets alot of drift and non-target spraying. I know the shrooms are gone by then, but, if the headline is on the area of shrooms, it will probably prevent them from emerging.
Your thoughts?
