Yes, like the rapper.
One day looking at cam pics my boy heard me say "look at that turn down beam" and he started singing "turn down for what?!" by Lil John. Hence the name.
It was a really simple hunt. I've been watching a thick draw for awhile but needed a strong N or W wind, well today worked out. After dropping kids at school I got into this public area around 0800. Set up in 5 minutes and immediately a good 8 cruised thru. I wanted him and hoped he'd circle back. 5 minutes later I saw antlers coming and thought it was him. I was wrong. LilJohn was a mile from home in this draw and coming right for me. 5 minutes later I was at full draw and when he finally gave me a shot I hammered him.
2016 I noticed a buck with a common G2G3 and over the years he stuck around but moved other points around. Last year I passed him dozen times and this year he was my #1. So so so stoked up! Hes been missing a month and I'm happy to have found him. I dropped a cam card 2 days ago that had been soaking. Today I found it on a tractor path and had a couple new pics of him, first ones of him in hard horn in 2 years.
Funny thing is 2 days ago the national guard were running live fire drills in this area and yesterday I saw zero deer. Amazing what a front can do and deer need their cover.
Enjoy the rut boys, its gunna be great!!
