Lite duty (venting a bit)

Well, it won't be hard for me to wait until the rut to hunt this year. I had to have hernia surgery last Tuesday (Sept 22nd). I'm on restricted lifting (15lb max) until Nov 1st.

I have a whole new appreciation for women going through c-sections...as it's basically what they did to me. I have a 3" by 5" mesh pad holding my guts in now.

I'm only 29, and the last year has been hell on my body. I had a cartilage tear (meniscus) in my right knee April 08...scope surgery fixed that, I blew my ham string playing softball this summer (july) and now the hernia deal...plus a few smaller tweaks here and there. If this is what getting older is all about, I'm not looking forward to what's next. Each time something different happens, all I can think about is that Toby Keith song "as good as I once was". With that in my mind, I hope I can use the following line to that song ("but I'm as good once, as I always was") when I'm at full draw on a Booner.

I'm headed home on Oct 23rd for my dad's b-day and to be treated to the Jason Aldean concert in Cedar Rapids by my girlfriend. If I can pull my bow back by then I will try to get a hunt or two in. I have Nov 4th- 15th off for hunting this year, hope it all works. It's going to be a looooong October for me.

Just needed to play my violin for a bit...I'll be better when the time's right.:way:

Best of luck to everyone who's hitting the stand tomorrow and this coming weekend. Be safe and shoot straight.

Hang in there man, you'll hit the rut and you really aren't missing much if you don't get out much in Oct. I shattered my arm one season and recovered just in time for rut and another year I have a full colectomy (whole large intestine removed) and made it just in time for the rut- you'll be past this before you know it. Hang in there!

suck it up and hunt stiches can be re stiched after the booners on the wall. I'll be out friday afternoon with 5 in my hand.
