Lock Down?

I just got back from SE IA,This subject has probably already been covered in the field reports, but when do you fellow and lady hunters think the chasing phase, and lock down phase occurred ? It seems to me, from my land, the chasing was earlier than last year. I seemed to see it the week of the 1oth thru 17th or so last yr. This year seemed to start around the 4th. Anyway end of last week, suddenly all the buck activity ceased, in my area. I am new to this chase, and lock down business. Coming from N Mich, saw little of it. Just constant hords of people.

im seeing very little movement... this week its been all at first light or right before dark and last week i shot my buck at 130 in the afternoon... im seeing some chasing but very little and the windy days were having isnt helping either

I personally have seen little classic chasing this year, but bucks were visible following does up until about Saturday, the 11th. I didn't hunt the 12th or 13th, but by the 14th I would say lockdown was in full gear. Myself, I have shot all of my nice archery bucks between November 1st and 7th. This year though I am relying on the wisdom of many others that say that the big boys will be freeing up and cruising for the last remaining hot does by about this weekend!

I also did not have anywhere near the success rattling this year as in the past. My timber is chock full of little bucks, but I only had two apparent responses to rattling. In other years I have called in as many as 6 separate bucks in one day. Go figure, things run in cycles I guess.

I didn't see alot of chasing, haven't been out now because of Nebraska gun season which closes bow season, and that pesky thing called WORK

The past couple days all of the movement I've been seeing has happened around nine in the morning. This morning I had five bucks chasing around this little tiny doe. No monsters though.

I took the day off hoping for some action yesterday. Nada, zip, zelch for shooters, almost the same for anything. I avoided a piece of land specifically for the rut, then got busy and didn't make it into there until yesterday. Oh well, I spent most of the day still hunting which helped me scout the property since I got permission to late in the year to do it. Seen a small forkie, twice on opposite ends of the property, had a 5pt within 10 yds. That was it.

On the way to work this morning I finally again seen one of the bucks I have been after about a mile and a half from where I am hunting at. He was with a doe and they were bedded out from a fenceline in a cut bean field right out in the open. Could have cared less that I was there watching them.

Monday was my last day of vacation, and seen a nice buck about 8:00 am bird doggin a trail but could care less about my bleats or grunts. At about 5:00pm had a six pointer sniff the base of my tree and walk off,at the same time a shooter was chasing two does about 300 yrds away. This morning by home,I live in town a nice buck was with a doe.Went to casey's to grab a coffee and came by 10 min.later and they hadn't moved.Looks like he was not going to let her get far.Can not wait till the weekend to get back out, have seen some nice bucks but have not ha any shots.

I was in Florida the week of the 5th-10th and didn't get out again until 12th. Not much action then, but then on the 14th, I shot my buck about 7am, and while waiting to get down, I saw 2 bucks right on a doe, and 2 others headin the same way on the same trail about 5 and 10 minutes later.
