Log Home Help

[/ QUOTE ] I have an Uncle who built one and while it was beautiful it was very expensive and difficult for the reasons Ghost mentions.
He finally sold it because it just took to much upkeep.

My mother and father in-law have a beautiful log home. He says if he had it to do all over again he would have vinyl sided the outside of it.

There have been too many sanding and sealing projects for his liking, and now that they are getting older he is really getting tired of it. You won't find a more beautiful home but be prepared for the extra work and expense that is involved in keeping it up.

If you like the wood look I would go with cedar siding. If you want maintance free...go with vinyl. I have worked in quite a few log homes and they all have the same story about the up keep. You can get a great look with cedar just look at Ghost's place.

Kent,

As has been stated many times already, you have a home and property which most of us will only dream about in our lifetime. Enjoy - I am sure it is well worth all the work that went into it. If I am ever in the area, I would love a chance to see it in person.
