starting at the ground i put each stick at chin height and pull my-self up onto it, I couldnr imagine carring 4 or 5 stciks, my pack and stand and sticks weigh enuff, you guys are nuts.
Pull yourself up to the sticks? That just sounds dangerous if you asked me. Someone slipped this year and almost tore their finger off, think it was Critr's buddy. I guess if it works for you.
One more stick would only add 2.5 pounds...hardly even noticeable. It would make for a safer climb up and down...don't want to see a fireman land on his melon!!
With my 4, depending on the tree, my platform is about 23 feet off the ground..the length of my bow rope, but I've been closer to 26 in a certain tree...pefectly placed branches.
Smokepole...off the top of my head I can't remember what exact brand it is. I'll look tonight when I get home from work. I got it at Gander Mountain. It has plenty of room with lots of little pockets to separate things....probably too much room..I bring too much stuff!
When you walk into the woods with 20 pounds on your back with a stand and 4 sticks it doesn't even compare to the 200+ pound hoss that you want to drag out of the woods.
