Looks like I will be trapping some this fall...

I don't know why, but I couldn't put any text on that ^ post. This is the third such coon that I have seen in our "neighborhood". The other two were about 1/2 mile to the west and few years back. But it does appear as though the genetics are present to "throw" a blondie every so often. I think this one is a sow, as there are two apparently smaller ones in normal coloration behind her. I kid you not, I have neighbors that would rather get this coon than a big buck. :) So, if it is still around this fall I am going to have beat a couple neighbors to the draw. :)
 
I called one of these a few years back and got it shot and then mounted it as an oddity. That same year there was another blonde/cinnamon one closer to my house that I had on cam. Those two were 25 miles apart. I saw another one a week ago and surprisingly I talked to a guy a couple nights later that saw one just a mile away from where I saw one but his had little ones. The four little ones were normal color. I have literally killed several thousand coons and up until the two from a couple years ago had never even saw one. Now four running around within a few years of each other. Pretty cool Daver! Good luck and watch out for the fence sitters that are after your blonde/cinnamon coon! LOL

I've taken 1000s of coon and never shot a cinnamon. That would be cool. Did get one years ago that his last few rings on his tail were white.
 
There used to be coon by the bazzilions around here.
Now it's almost rare to see one.
Couple of huge floods wiped them out.
 
I had a mom and 5 of her offspring crossing the road in front of me the other day.. couldn’t quite bring myself to punching it and eliminating them all but definitely thought about it
 
We didn’t lose any to floods I don’t think but we weren’t in any areas where creeks got out. Since expanding the ground offensive to some new regions… I seriously think we will top the 1,000 mark on coons in a calendar year. The average farm I’m at - just overloaded at insane levels. The amount of guys I personally know with even 20 to 200 acres getting hundreds per year is pretty common if they stay on em.
 
I'll never forget the huge flood of 97.

Big blizzard april 4th/5 th followed by a fast warm up. We had about 120" of snow that year. Any critter that could climb a tree did so only to be trapped up there for weeks and dieing from exposure/ starvation.
it was UGLY!
