My brother and I hit the timber on Saturday morning for what turned out to be a great morning. As I walked into my treestand across an open grass field I noticed two deer about 70 yards away coming over a small knoll (mind you it was 6:10 so I only could see small flashes of white). I decided to hit my knees and see what happened as I had a hay bail blocking me, and low and behold a brute walked over the small knoll next. I got pretty excited as I had the wind in my favor, but needed about 15 more minutes of daylight before I would be able to shoot. Well the bucks never got any closer, they were too interested in each other and started a little rumble about 100 yards in front of me. The big boy handled the smaller buck with ease after about 45 seconds of fighting or so, that was an awesome sight.
Finally, I got to the stand about 6:40, and saw a doe and 2 small bucks while in the stand, I let the doe have it as we need to harvest several this year. My brother on the other hand had roughly 30 deer come by him during the 3 hours we were hunting, including 1 nice 150-160" typical that stayed well out of range. All in all the hunt was good and we saw a lot of deer, now if the warm weather would leave so I can get back out there, looks like the weekend could be good.
