Ok folks, I don't want to hear your complaining if you don't do anything. If you live in areas that are far too decimated or don't want to see your area decimated for #'s, you better email and call. There's been tons of posts on this. Here's some condensed contact info. Get off your butt and at least send an email or call- ****ALL CONTACT INFO BELOW- READ. These folks actually hear very little from us (that's exactly what several told me)....

This email is from someone who is part of Brandstad's office and would like feedback on deer #'s. Remember, they are taking the political SPIN by saying "don't want to INCREASE deer numbers" when we know the deer #'s in many areas have been decimated, another season with huge doe tags is going to destroy many county deer #'s (some are already) AND the DNR says we've accomplished what is biologically needed and we need to pull back & not continue to go crazy on the deer kills. Farm Bureau is pushing this hard to destroy all the deer and it's favors, politics, $, etc. NOT BIOLOGICAL REASONING. Be respectful....

julie.vandehoef@iowa.gov I THINK this was relayed to me properly?!?! Is this email address correct? Please immediately post if I have this wrong. Also go to:

Litchfield and office NEED to hear from you!!!....
641-203-6073 They are not hearing a ton and need to hear your concerns. They need to have intelligent feedback and information from YOU to pass on, etc. Let me know if this # is not correct.

Brandstad REJECTS DNR's Proposal:
http://iowawhitetail.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37972

DNR needs your opinions, support and feedback. You need to do this now. It sounds like this could be stopped BUT it sounds like July is when it's finalized. We all know what's going on here folks. You all need to handle very intelligently, passionately, respectfully and you darn well at a minimum send a message, no complaining if you don't take a few secs of your time OR do anything above here- they are NOT hearing back from the hunters like they should be, I don't care what anyone says, I've heard this from too many in DNR, etc saying this.

From someone I know at FARM BUREAU:
"Skip, we have thousands upon thousands of members.... It's 100 or so members, etc that call ALL THE TIME.... "KILL ALL THE DEER!!!! WHY AREN'T ALL THE DEER KILLED ALREADY AND YOU AT F.B. NEED TO FIGHT HARDER!!! GET RID OF THEM!!!" We rarely hear from others on the issue and always hear from the angry 100 people that want all the deer killed- they are driving this".

I've also talked with several folks at meat lockers and well-known taxidermists- all of which are shaking their head - sure, it's their livelihood BUT they also have a great pulse on things and know we're in big trouble if we continue with some of this decimation in many areas. Up to you now....

Not saying this is PERFECT & we need TONS of perspectives and YOUR BRAIN working on this, I whipped this up in 1 minute and hit submit on the website. I'm sure you're smarter than me and can put your own opinions and experiences to use- DO IT! I'll also be doing other things beyond the contact I had earlier. This QUICK comment (good or bad, not saying this is perfect) took me LITERALLY 1 minute to write & submit....

Hello, my name is Skip Sligh, I am writing about farming and whitetail deer hunting. I both FARM & HUNT. I know the office is claiming it does not want to "INCREASE" deer numbers and wants to "STABILIZE" but I'm here to express that the current policies and ignoring of the DNR proposal to cut-back on the huge deer tag #'s will continue to decimate an already hurting population in most the state. I'm very active politically, agriculturally and in the hunting community. We all know what Farm Bureau is pushing for and why. I'm here to tell you that the MAJORITY of the state is far below carrying capacity and many areas are DECIMATED with the deer populations. You need to go with the DNR recommendations to reduce the antlerless seasons and antlerless tag amounts.
I also have relationships with several at F.B. and I know the whole story here with them & who/why is fighting to kill as many deer as possible. You're making a huge mistake politically, economically, environmentally and taking a huge blow at family tradition and those that feed their families if you continue to listen to F.B. on this issue.
I wish to respectfully convey my personal message above, one that comes with utmost knowledge, network and understanding of all sides. Thank you very much and have a great week! Skip Sligh, Urbandale, IA

All I can tell everyone is if Gov. Branstad travels at night through
any of the counties they want to lower the quota they will not drop them.
I have hit one deer and almost seven others in two weeks of driving.
The most for me ever.
Coincidence I sure hope so.

Good luck.

I drive and have driven, from DesMoines to Ottumwa, just about weekly, for the past 6 yrs. Sometimes at night. Many evenings. I have never hit a deer. A true fact. My wife has driven this route almost as much. No deer hit. Well, once, at dusk, near Ottumwa, she was close, but no hit.Hope to get her mother moved so we can end the trips. Someday. alot of Gas $$$ down the drain!

Stop driving at night,,,

Boy that is a well thought out response. :thrwrck:

Just pointing out the obvious.
Have went from not even coming close to hitting a deer to 7 in two weeks. Just thought it was a little excessive that is all.

I am smart enough to know that there is different deer densities in
different areas.
Now how do we take care everyone so the majority is happy?

This time of year is rough. I travel A LOT throughout the week. My base is Iowa city and I will go up to Waverly, down to columbus junction and over to Davenport. The numbers of deer hit on the roads has gone up dramatically the past two weeks. It happens every year this time of year as the deer start to branch out and move but not a good time for the governor to be driving around.

For those that just want to do something really quick only- click on the 1st link above for iowa gov's website and it'll have a submission page. Or sending the email would obviously be additionally as quick.

thanks Skip. It was very easy and hopefully it helps. Cant stress enough how important it is that we take action. Only takes a few minutes to save a valuable resource.

For those that would be willing and are good with ur words... Should call the # I put on first part for litchfield's- they wanna and need to hear from u!!! Thanks for emails and effort!

Message sent, hopefully they start to get the point, but it seems like nobody is listening. Maybe if we can overload and email inbox they will get the point. Keep sending messages.

If u send a message- reference the fact that u have already seen their previous "generic" "we don't wanna INCREASE deer #'s email" and have some NEW responses to that email. Calls are great too!!

I replied to the 'generic' reply that we all got. I respectfully asked if there
was any chance I could get a reply that wasn't a form letter that actually addressed the main topic I wrote about.
In my first email I stated that I was disturbed that the Governor would totally ignore the qualified States DNR and asked why he would do so?

I'm not holding my breath for anything but another form letter.

I did the same thing, and received the same "generic" reply i got the first time. That tells me nobody is listening!
