Mahaska Flats Bow....

For sale ... Think I screwed classifieds ad up cause it's not there so maybe someone can move it for me. The bow is in great condition but it needs a new string. I have maybe shot it 30-40 times. I know they are made in Southern Iowa and they are a great bow. It's 62". So insteda of staring at it in the trophy room(wich looks sweet) I figured someone on here would actually use it to lay down some game. Best offer I guess, P.M. me thanks, Ryan

I believe there a "welthy man bow" from most of my studies, I have seen them in upwards of $600 and more.. This one is around $450-$475 new. Coustom bows are crazy expensive! Since I dont use it at all and want it to go to a good home, i could part with her for $150.... The bow was #61 that was made.

Im almost positive the bow string that snapped on me gave a 26" draw length and shot 55lbs. It was coustom made for my uncle and i knew he had 3 different string lenths for draw and lbs. Im 6'2" with looong arms and it felt like alot pulling back( needed longer string) But it zipped thru stuff with a good hit.

I am sorry if I burst your bubble, but I have met Ken who runs Mahaska bows and know a little about his products. That bow was probably made in the mid 1990's and from the pictures has been shot quite a bit. I saw bows just like it at the Wapello Cheifs traditional bow shoot near Ottumwa in 1996 when Ken and I were both vendors there. At that time those bows, I think he only made 2 different long bows and 2 recurves and a take down model of each, sold new for between $300 and $350 depending on the model. I don't under stand how a bow string would limit your draw to only 26 inches as these bows were set and scaled at 28". Even if the string were to short by far, it might give you a brace height of 10 or 12 inches but the draw length would still be 28 inches. The string length can not change draw length or draw weight. I made several Flemish strings for Ken's bows and all you did to adjust the brace height was twist the string tighter to shorten it or untwist it to make it longer. I don't think you understand the mechanics of a long bow.

Ur right and im going from what i have been told and have researched... You can go to coustom mahaska bows and find it all and they had a price of $480 for a 62" flatbow.. Unless they are lying to the public?

Either way it's for sale at a good price I beleive.
