Manchester area trout/ camping ?'s

In a couple of weekends, I'm headed to the Manchester area to do some trout fishing. We are going to be camping (tent) and would like a place that's not too crowded. But at the same time someplace that we could leave the campsight without having to worry about having things "walk off". I have done some internet surfing and got some general information but would appreciate any first-hand advice or experiences. We plan on fishing the public waters around that area but also have some private land to fish too. I am basically new to trout fishing and need any tips or hints on secret baits!

Nice stream if you don't have to fight the crowd. I liked fishing the Turkey River back in the day. Caught a few nice ones there.

this is my secret but i guess not anymore the smallest floater you can find then run 12 inches of line with salmon eggs on it the other is cast to the furthest point with a rooster tail then work it like a crank bait jerk then rest kinda deal that always works for me

Go to Fountain Springs, Its kind of secluded, (no showers or anything) It's just north of Greely. I always have a great time there. I would also try corn right out of a can for bait. Buy some small treble hooks and put 3 pieces of corn. I also chum some corn out to see which ones are hungry. Its a really good time.

That's a great tip there, get the tiny ones. You'll have a huge difference in the amount of trout you get on the bank, at least I do. I use light spinning gear 4lb, with a tiny treble and small worms. I never buy bait, just look under the large rocks and logs along the stream for small earth worms. The worm and treble will float nicely with the current, once in a while I put a small split shot on for the deeper pools. After a little while you'll figure how to read the water and you'll be able to float them right under the banks and other stuff. Otherwise small panther spinners or tiny jigs are my favorites for the regulation streams.

IA is the only state I have ever seen corn fisherman (to each is his own), but I will say some IA boys are die hard. When bowhunting the rut it is not uncommon to see more trout fisherman than bowhunters....gotta love it!

Fish on boys!

There is only one obvious choice for what he wants.Baileys Ford is only a couple miles south of Manchester and its exactly what CLOACA is looking for.
I'm surprised noone brought it up.

Check it out.Perfect for you.

I haven't trout fished down that way much but as for trout fishing gear I could offer a few suggestions. I like to use an ultralight spinning rig with four- to six-pound line. Typically I use nothing more than a black/gold Panther Martin spinner and occasionally a jig or two. I've also had luck drifting a crawler, salmon eggs or even Powerbait. Good luck and enjoy!

I agree with the light spinning set up, i usually use a panther martin or a mepps aglia with short spot casts. trout are picky and spook easily.

Thanks for the ideas for camping spots and keep those trout tips coming! I'm a green beginner so every little bit helps!

One of my favorite streams to camp on is North and South Bear. YOu can walk for ever fishing and just enjoying nature. Plus it isn't fished as hard as most other streams.
