I would have had Mathews fix it if I wasn't in the middle of bow season. I needed a quick fix and a fix that would work. Mathews would have replaced the string with another Zebra. I would have had to endure another case of the new string stretching and getting the bow out of spec, AGAIN!..... didn't want to deal with it.
The WC string sets are pricey for sure, but worth the price if you can avoid the crap I had to deal with. It's not just a Mathews problem by the way. A great friend of mine owns a new Hoyt Razor Tec. He's having the same problem I had with string stretch except it is a little less noticable because of the lack of suppressors on the Hoyt. Hoyt doesn't use Zebra strings, but I'm sure it's Fast Flight of some sort.
I just have a problem with any bow manufacturer telling me to put 8 twists on both ends of a bow string to fix a stretch. That's A LOT of slack to take up!.... not to mention doing what they told me to do didn't get me anywhere close to fixing what was wrong.
The new bows have specs that are so critical, anything that could go wrong usually affects the bows performance dramatically. I just decided to fix the problem once and for all....besides I now have a better string set on my bow than all the other factory strings out there.
