Just a FWIW FYI on miscanthus...
I bought about 1000 rhizomes last year, 2023, and dutifully planted and sprayed for them appropriately, etc. Then...it didn't rain for about 2-3 months, and I mean, it didn't rain.
So, I saw essentially no sign of growth or survival from this effort. Harrumph!
Being a glutton for punishment, we got some more this year and planted them again this past weekend. (Note - I had them in cold storage for the past 2-3 weeks, mainly due to such wet ground this spring that we couldn't get them in, etc.) But I was quite surprised to see that ALL of them did not die last year in the drought, although I saw no sign that they survived. I would estimate that 25%'ish of the 2023, presumed failure, are up and growing strong this year. Go figure.
