mommy doe.

Well said Nacho! I agree that some of the comments were crude(mine included), but all in good fun.

The first post was asking point blank what peoples opinions are on killing does with fawns and guys gave their response. If that certain person feels guilty or can't stomach killing a doe with a fawn than that is his perrogative and I agree he should not be criticized for it. BUT... It is my opinion that our society has become soft and people are way to "politically correct" nowadays. WE HUNT TO KILL plain and simple. If that wasn't the case we would all just join the Audubon society and go out with cameras and binoculars to watch the animals. There is nothing wrong with killing animals and we as hunters shouldn't feel bad for who we are and what we do! I agree that the animals deserve respect and a prayer of thanks should be given for each kill, but we are the supreme predator in the world and there is no need to feel bad for that.

I have a problem with people who are always looking over their shoulder feeling that they should be ashamed to be a hunter. The media and the liberal left wing tree huggers have made people believe that it is wrong to hunt and eat meat and kill an animal and fly a flag, and say a prayer in public, etc... Well, I'm damn proud to be a hunter and support the outdoor industry and wear my camo hat in public. When God told Peter to "Arise, Kill, and Eat" in the bible, do you think he meant, don't shoot the doe if she has a fawn? Point being, animals were placed here for mans use and consumption, and there is no reason to feel bad about! To each their own and there is nothing wrong with taking a knee and feeling thankful for a kill, but don't take the stance that we are all murderers and "macho men". because we are willing to take a life. I respectfully disagree with your point of view Turtleshell!

well said!

I'm not ashamed to be a hunter. I think back to my dad and grandpas, they only went for bucks and we never shot the deer with fawns. We would go out hunting and watch the deer run around and play and if one of them shot one, they would feel a little bad but after a while got over it.
I'm not saying I will never shoot a doe with fawns after reading some posts it makes a lot of sense to shoot em.

Ya, I didn't want this thread to become a argument.

Not your fault at all. Legit question with a few good replies, some guys being funny and...

Don't let this dust up keep you from asking questions or making posts. Lots of good information on this site, sometimes you just have to filter the poop.:way:

Proud hunter here, too, dude...I just don't see the need of being a boisterous jack-wagon when doing so.

When I watch or see those D'bags who act overly bada$$ and macho while hunting, especially after a kill...it's embarrassing to be "lump-summed" into the same "HUNTER" category when I am nothing like that. I can assure you I'm not "soft", certainly not a treehuggin leftwing nut or whatever you implied.

So disagree with my stance all you want, I'm not infringing upon yours...but do you realize you're disagreeing about having morals, ethics, and respect for the game we hunt?...because that's all I've stated.

I wasn't insinuating that you were a left wing nut job. Just simply stating that we as hunters shouldn't have to feel bad for killing. I absolutely agree that there are "bad apples" that make us all look bad, and that is a shame, but you will have that in all hobbies and things that we enjoy. I also agree that the animals we hunt should be respected and that's why we owe it to them and ourselves to practice and take ethical shots. etc. I am simply saying that you should never have to apologize for being a hunter and a killer! Wish you would have read my post a little more thoroughly and not just taken offense to it. I think you would have found that we agree on a lot of things.

BearArchery.... Great post and good topic. Indeed you will always have to file throught the crap . A little debate is always a good thing and often makes you see multiple perspectives.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with. last year i had a momma doe and triplets come out, and momma goes downwind of me and starts snorting and pegs me out up in the tree, then all of them are starring up at me, so I couldn't move or nothin'. I don't think I would have shot anyway, but i know if that happens this year, ill be shooting if i get the chance. Those same old does can ruin a hunt like THA4 said. They are just as smart if not smarter than an old mature buck
