More bear bait pics

I am feeding darn near 20 bears right now but most of them are sows with cubs and the bigger males are coming in during the night. Hopefully I can get some of them coming in sooner within the next week.

The bear in these pics is a monster. despite how people exaggerate about 500-pound bears, they are very rare but they do exist and this I believe is one of them. He is huge.

I have also included a few pics of other animals that have come to the baits, a fisher, gray fox and a big coon. I have a lot of coons coming to the baits, in fact I have one photo with seven coons in it.

What are you doing to keep the bears from ripping your cam down? I'd like to set one up on the edge of a standing oat field right now but bears are using it too and want to keep my camera.

They make a "Bear proof box" that screws to the tree then the camera goes inside it. Its solid steel and lockable. Just has cut-outs for flash, sensor and lens. Also helps deter theft. More stuff to carry but would be worth the effort. I think the boxes are around $30.

I do not have too much problem with the bears messing with them. Once in a while one will pull it down, but I use bungee cords and usually if they mess with them they snap back into place. Every so often one will slobber on it or bite it, but I have never had a bear ruin one. Usually if one is messed with it's a new bear that does it. I think they are curious about the flash. They lose interest in them after the first visit or two. I am very careful not to get any smell of the bait on them.

Hey Iowa1, how much would an out of state archery bear tag run me? I would love to make it up that way and try it some time.

I think it is about $190.

I am not a guide but I know of a couple good ones. I have been helping people with bear hunts in exchange for other kinds of hunts. Looking for an elk hunt now.

Minnesota has a reasonable price on their tags. We draw about every other year and are very happy with our hunts. That is a good looking barr, good luck!

Damn, that bear looks like Rosie O'Donnel!

That makes me want to shoot it all the more.

Here's one more pic of "non-target" wildlife. For anyone who thinks the $100 Moultrees are not sensitive, this one is for you.
