I see what you're saying, but to me, I think that my odds go up the less i'm in the woods at the
wrong time (not saying that right now is wrong for you). I used to be like a little kid at Christmas on opening day, however, now I typically don't even go. Hell, this weekend i'm going to a Kansas City Chiefs game (I dont know why because they aren't doing so hot :thrwrck

. I want to hunt big mature bucks when I have the
best odds of killing them, and for me, that's not anywhere around this time of year. I want to let mother nature work against him (cooler temps and an increase in hormones) and go after him when the time is right. The less intrusive I am now, the better chance that I have in killing a big mature buck when he's on his feet and moving during daylight hours. I have noticed the last few years while doing this that I hunt a lot harder during the rut and don't get burnt out like I used too. To each their own though, we've all got our own strategies and opinions, but for me on the farms I hunt, staying out of them until late October has paid off BIG time!
