I don't understand how this could ever happen!! Makes my want to throw up. There is absolutely no excuse for this to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel bad for the man and his family but how could this possibly happen? sad
 
Yes, one of the first things you learn when your a kid is, dont shoot at anything until you recognize what is 100%. The guy probably told his own kid that several times before this happened. He got caught up in the moment, and now it will haunt him for the rest of his life. Very sad.
 
You cant shoot a turkey in the spring unless its a tom. There isn't a moment. If it would have been a hen what was he going to do. It had to be a sound shot or a movement in the brush.
 
Reading that gave me goosebumps. What a tragic event. Prayers go out to the family. I can't imagine the thoughts and feelings that the father is having to deal with.

Me too. Especially since I have a 9 year old son who loves to go hunting and fishing with his dad. His name is also Hunter, and he too has 2 older sisters. Kinda creepy. The guy obviously made a mistake, but at this point, really needs our prayers.

My two kids were out hunting and I was at work when I read that.

I made a quick cell phone call...

I can't even imagine how that could happen.

My sentiments exactly. Often we rush to judgement but accidents happen to good people too. Prayers for the family....
 
i see everyone's point, but i can't really classify this as an accident. he purposefully shot at a sound, and a moving bush. spring turkey seasons are for gobblers only. if the noise he shot at was a hen, he would be a poacher. and his kid was what, 9, 10? if he was taking his boy hunting, the kid should have been at his side. what was he planning on teaching the kid, by having him sit and wait by a tree, while dad put the sneak on a bird?
