I was lucky enough to kill this gobbler on Mother's Day. I had set up and knew exactly where the birds were coming from. I worked one from the roost for bout 45 minutes, got to bout 80 yards, and hung up. As he was walking away, this guy was coming in. I guess I didn't really notice him until I heard a sound behind me, I slowly turned my head, and I looking at this bird literally 10 feet away from me. I was thinking, "Just when this hunt couldn't get any more worse...." But the only way I could have shot him was if he walked north along the fence line..and that is what he did. He didn't run away, but walked. Got to bout 25yards and a clean shot later, I was calling my mother at 6:30 wishing her a Happy Mothers Day and that we were eating some turkey tonight! Did some great work with the slate call that morning too!
