There have been sightings of black cats in the midwest for the past 30 years.Ive only seen one 1 time and i wouldnt discribe it as a mountin lion.Black panther is what i saw around 1980 while waiting on a deer drive during shotgun season.35 to 40 yards in the open on a bright sunny day with snow on the ground.I could have shot it with the 12 gauge but i didnt.Guess i was just stuned to see it but if i had to do over i would have pluged it a good one.I have hunted the same area every year since then and have yet to see it again. My brother had seen it a year before but i didnt belive him.Well seeing is beliving. Was this panther somebodys exzotic pet that got away?Dont know but i have talked to a couple of people who have seen the same type cats around in different areas.a person can quote all the stats they want but when you see it in broad day light up close you know its out there. If the chance should ever happen again i wont hesitate this time.
Where I live people in "TOWN" say that they have seen a pair of cubs at the PARK! buttttt I really think that is far fetched. I have my camera's set up all over the place all I get pictures of is bobcats no cougars... Although there was a confirmed sighting this deer hunting season just west of Cumberland In cass county. I still dont think that she would bring her cubs into cumberland to the park. I mean come on.
