Moving oak seedlings

The burr oaks around my yard have produced tons of seedlings this year. I've been trying my luck at moving a few around.
What are my chances of success here? Is making a slit in the ground with a spade a decent way to go or should they be planted in loose dirt?

I would do loose dirt especially with them that small. Wouldn’t take much effort and would probably increase the success rate.

I recently did the same thing- out of rock hard dirt into loose dirt and a bucket with a small hole. Did it 2 weeks ago and all look good yet

I've had success doing this but I drilled holes a foot deep or so with a 3 inch earth auger. In my mind drilling the hole gives the taproot an easy path down deep.
