While I was out past weekend, desperately trying to get some moisture to my trees, I had some cardboard I was using as mulch, to at least cover the now bare ground I have baking around each tree. Then I thought of all the high lush golden rod and weeds close by. I started ripping the weeds up and spreadind them around my trees for mulch. Lots of it, and it is free, and if by some wild chance some rain does fall it will pass thru to the soil. Just an idea.
