My patterns from this weekend

Hi all,
I saw a lot of discussion about Hevi-shot earlier and thought I'd post the results of my Saturday morning for everybody to see.
I'm shooting an 870 w/ 26" barrel, Carlson's .665 turkey choke, and 3" #5 Hevi-shot shells.
Until this point I've alway shot Winchester #4's with this gun and been happy. The extra range and tighter pattern with the Hevi-shot is quite noticable.
Below are two of the 3 shots I took Saturday...25 yards and 45 yards. I think I'm ready!

I patterned my old 2 3/4 inch 1100 this weekend too. I was using Federal Premium lead turkey load #6. If they make hevi shot in 2 3/4 I haven't found it. The patterns I came up with looked similar at 20 and my 30 yard looked like that 45 yard shot. At 40 yards I just see tail feathers flying way. Should I be trying #4 or 5 shot, or just make sure I get the old bird to 25-30 yards?

Thanks Ghost!!!!

Danno, before I put the Carlson's choke on my gun I was shooting Winchester #4's in patters similar to the ones you described. I never took a shot longer than 27 yards with that set up. I would personally move up to #4 if I were you.

I am hunting an area again this year where I can set up on a "runway". The birds come off the roost every morning and fly down from 30-60 yards out into an open field. I want to be able to reach out and touch one when he hits the ground!!!!
