My dad and I took my 9 yer old son to Lake of the Woods fishing last week. He caught a 20" walleye, a 31" northern, a 38" musky and this 46" musky along with a number of other small fish.
Fantastic!!! I still remember my 1st trip to Canada... my dad still says I'm spoiled. But when your hoisting in 4-5 lb walleye without the net... yeah he's probably right!
That's a memory he's gonna have forever, well done!
My brother drives down to Lake of The Woods every year just to fish for musky, he's yet to get one, he must be shy of 10000 casts yet.
One day I'd like to nail one of those babies....one day I will make the trip with him. Love the fish, absolutely love the big old girl!!!!! Congrats to your son and kudos to you for taking him on a trip he'll never forget.
Congratulations on some great fish, and the memories you've made. I finally got to go fishing in Canada in 1995 with my Dad and Grandpa. It was my Grandpa's last trip to Canada. He was 84 at the time and I cherished every moment I had with the two of them.
My best fish of the trip was a 32" Northern which was no monster but having my Dad and Gramps with me made it a keepsake I couldn't do without. It's in my trophy room at home and I smile thinking of the good time we had every time I stop to look at it.
Why shouldn't he catch a big fish, first trip to Canada, he's 9, he deserves it. I'm just glad he wants to come with me. I'm afraid to take him deer hunting for the first time though. With this kids luck, he will get the new state record or something.
