Tuesday morning couldn't have been any more perfect. Stinking mushroom hunters must have thought the same thing. At 7:30 I had 2 strutters coming right in when they suddenly flew off. Here come 2 tresspassers through the timber. I yelled for them to stop and they took off. So I decided to move my blind and set up about 500 yards away where I heard 3 gobbling earlier. After 2 hours of nothing I was about to take a nap when I see 3 bright red heads running full speed at my jake decoy. They were fired up bumping the decoy and chasing eachother around less than 10 yards from me. I picked out the biggest one and let him have it. Even after being foiled by the tresspassers earlier, it must have been my day. Sometimes turkey hunting with a bow seems easy, and sometimes it seems impossible. That's what makes it so much fun. This is the first year I have ever tagged out on toms with a bow after 9 years of trying.
This bird was a hog, by far my biggest. 28.4lbs, 10" beard, and 1 3/8" spurs but they were the thickest spurs I think I've ever seen on a turkey.
