Nebraska mule deer

I got a last minute invite to hunt deer in the scottsbluff area of Nebraska this weekend. So I decided I will try it. Tag is for whitetail or mule deer. I'm going after a mule deer unless I spot a giant whitetail. Don't really know what to expect. We will be hunting private land mainly but might try some public. Has anyone ever hunted in this area? Never been out there. By a little internet research it appears they were hit by disease last year and numbers are down, but we will see.

My opinion is with a rifle you will be able to be a lot more flexible and able to cover a lot of ground. If you just keep moving from area to area I bet you will run on to something worth your while.
