I hunt days ending in Y
Just got back from archery season on NE turkey. First 3 days were high wind,rain.and snow. They stayed hid. Next 3 days were sunny and they went wild. They liked my worst calls and both were taken at about 15 yds. They couldn't resist the jake decoy. Called in two sets of doubles and 2 singles. All but the 2 singles were just following hens. The hens were very vocal. Love those western birds. My buddy hit one gobbler and we never found it. I should also add that these were taken with a crossbow. Still healing up from back surgery.
Second bird was for sure a hybrid. Got light and he was only 80 yds. away. I could see him. He pitched down in front of me with 14 hens.
In my travels I ran across a perfect store. Post Office,General store,and saloon. With a wood burning stove in the middle. The way it should be.

But to be honest they worked the best with one of those hairy mouth calls. No eastern has ever liked the tone of one of those. At least with me using it.
