Need a new locker

My brother in law and his dad own the Granger locker. Well recently, his dad was in an accident, and is now paralyzed from the chest down. My brother in law and sister will be taking him in and caring for him. With all the hospital bills, and the time that it will take to care for him, my brother in law will not be able to keep the locker up and running. Therefore, they have offically closed thier doors. Because of this, I need to find a new locker in a hurry, with the season drawing near. What are some of your recommendations for a good locker in the Central Iowa area?

Golly's in Maxwell does a pretty good job at a reasonable price. They only take boneless meat. Ridgeport and Stanhope do a really nice job with the cured meat.

That is sad to hear.I had used that locker in years past and had good luck.I do my own processing now with a group of friends, but had good luck also with the locker in Redfield.

Sorry to hear that. I took my buck there last season and they were great people. Prior to that, I went to Ulrich's in Pella. They always did a really nice job and it was worth the drive for me from Waukee/Des Moines.

Speaking of lockers, have any of you ever had a locker put maple or possibly maple syrup into your sticks?? My freind from northern Minnesota brought down some sticks turkey hunting that had one or the other in them, best by far I have tried. I would like to find a locker that had this application process.

Pat,
The Tipton locker does the maple sticks.

I would start doing it yourself. It's not that hard, you know you get your own deer, and with a little practice you can make sausage and jerky better then most lockers.
