Need help sighting in a scope

I know the logistics of sighting in a scope, but am confusing myself with the variable zoom portion of my scope.

My scope is a scheels brand variable zoom of 1.5 - 6 power. When sighting it in on a slug shotgun do I want to sight it in at the highest 6 power or at 1.5 power. Does it make a difference? What zoom should I use at 50 yards to sight it in and also at 100 yards? Does it make a difference.

All in all if I sight it in with the any zoom power will it shoot the same way using any of the other zoom powers?

If someone could straighten me out on this that would be great. Thanks!

To me it's personal preference on what power to sight in your gun at...does it make a difference...NO....the bullet should hit the same spot if you have it on 2x or 6x...I personally always turn my scope to it's highest power when sighting in a gun...it brings the target alot closer to my eye and fine tunes my accuracy...I should say while hunting though, your going to want to keep your scope turned down (2-3x) while walking for those shots that take you off guard when he pops out 10 yds in front of you...Alot easier to find him in the scope!!
