i've been wanting to learn to call ducks for awhile now, after a little research, i decided to buy a river mallard call, made in cedar rapids iowa. doug sent me this pic to try to choose a call from. these are his "entry level" double reed calls

after alot of deliberation, and changing my mind about 3 times, i went with the red, and had had him send me a walnut goose call as well. the goose call is also from the bottom of his price range.

i have no idea how to make the goose call work yet, but i can get the duck call to sound "ducky".

Some guy down the street from me has been learning this summer and it's been tough to stay patient. I'm not a duck or goose hunter so I don't see the "music to my ears" side of the argument. It's just excessive noise to me.

I do the same thing, i'm sure my neighbors probally hate me.
 
Betts, Carlson, Echo, Rich n Tone, they all kill ducks if the person on the other end can ring em and get snotty on the low end. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
 
Most of our neighbors would have some things to say about the calling but some of the neighbors call back so I guess you win some ya lose some. Usually the calls go out when it's 5 o ' clock somewhere.
