Although I haven't had it out long enough for a good test yet, I thought I'd give a small report.
I purchased the Moultrie camera that they make for Cabelas.

The set up is easy which is a major thing for me since my VCR still flashes 12:00

I was worried about the trigger time which is about 4 seconds with the flash. Less without. I only had it out for a couple days but had no north end pics of south bound deer that I was fearing I'd get with that trigger speed. The unit uses a 6 volt lantern type battery, and has hookups for solar charging the battery. The quality of pics thus far seem to be good, with the only bad one being of a deer that was a foot away. It was overexposed from the flash. I'll keep you updated as time goes by on things like battery life, etc.

I have this same camera and have had good luck with it also. Not one bad picture. It is important to place it on an approaching trail due to the trigger speed as you mentioned. For the price, I would say it is a great camera.

I purchased two of these units and am very pleased with them. One has been out in the field since mid-June with no issues. Last time it sat for 3 weeks and took 145 pics. The solar panel kept the battery nearly fully charged. Haven't checked the second one yet. Good sensing and pics.

Thanks for the report Jay, I've been thinking about one of these cams and it looks like they are pretty decent at a reasonabe price.

Well folks, that was short and sweet.
Last week I had a few pics that there was no flash, then last night I went to grab the camera and it had about a 10 second trigger time when i stepped in front of it.

Got home and checked the photos and all had these lines through them.

Took it back this morning for a refund. I'll use the procedes to buy a couple control boards and build my own.
To all that have them........I wish you good luck.

I have one of these too and just got it boxed up to go back

Worked fine the first 4 days but menus won't function & won't take pictures now....Funny because I have 2 of the Moultrie 2.1 ($99 @ wally world or Scheels) and both have worked flawlessly.
