New Recipe!

BDAHMS

Be here Now
it has been a while since I put any new Recipes on here for a meal I tried with Venison- but over the weekend I tried a new one from a recipe I was reading about and it was absolutely AMAZING. and very unique

It was a Deer Quiche- not too hard to make and everyone in camp couldn't get enough of it- my brother actually found the recipe and he definitely hit the nail on the head

Ingredients-

1 unbaked pastry shell (9")
1/2 LB ground venison (if you don't have ground you can cut up a roast or steaks into small pieces)
1/2 lb of sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cub chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper (we used 1 whole red bell)
1 10oz package of frozen chopped spinach- squeezed dry after thawing
2 ounces of crumbled Feta and handful of shredded Mozzarella
6 eggs
3/4 cup half and half
salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of fresh garlic (I added more than that I love garlic)

Step 1- Line the pastry shell with a double thickness of heavy duty foil and bake at 450 for 8 minutes- remove foil and bake 5 more minutes

step 2- while the shell is baking- in a large skillet- cook the garlic, ground deer, mushrooms, onion and bell pepper all a once until meat is no longer pink- should take 5-6 minutes - drain liquid out and spoon into crust- Top off with both the feta and mozz cheese

Step 3- in a large bowl - whisk the eggs, cream, pepper , salt - pour on top of cheese and mixture

Step 4 - cover edges loosely with foil- Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until a knife can come out the center clean - let stand for 10 minutes and then cut like a pie

not too hard but wayyyyy good!

we actually doubled everything and made 2 of them at once and vacuum sealed and froze the second one

Let me know if any of you try it and what you think!

That sounds good! I`ll have Mrs. make it up this winter on a cold night and let you know.

Just made this at home and if you haven't tried this you need too. I added a lot of fresh garlic and it was delicious!
