New Shelter belt

Have read a number of DT posts..A new shelterbelt is set in my old CRP (wheat grass). Cannot start until Sept 1. Thought I would disc and then rotary till pretty deep...Let it sit as late as possible before hitting it with gly and then put down Oust.. Plant next spring..Any thoughts or advise..I am putting in cedar, burr oak, caragana.

Is this in South Dakota? My only suggestion is to change out Caragana? I’d go Plum or Chokecherry… I guess it depends on your goals ?

Start in sept…. When u gonna plant it? That fall like November? U can run oust on hardwoods & cedars. Not sure on caragana but check label.
What gonna plant all this with - tree planter?

I have 50+ Caragana & they are cold tolerant, fast grower. I don’t know if it has much wildlife value ?

If you are looking for “strictly” cover, they usually survive …

If you can get weed mat — it’s much less of a weed issue.

Will be planted by NRCS with tree planter..Not planning on fabric...Already need to tube all the oaks so thought Caragona had a fighting chance without cage or tubes..Was planning on aletrnating oaks and caragona...Will be planting next April or May..Substantial deer and rabbit pressure as this sits in the middle or developed habitat. I will check on oust with caragona...Do you like any chemical combo better??
