Well, I am new to this site and I am looking for any informative tips people can give me about deer hunting in the state. I just drew for the first time for the archery season and I was wondering if there would be anybody out there willing to give me tips or information about the hunting down there. It looks like i will hunting state land but always open to hunting private land if anybody has any input. Thanks

What zone did you get a tag for? Lots of people here from every zone that can give you hints and info, just need to know what part of the state you'll be hunting.

I think it is amazing that people would put in for a $500 tag and not have a plan as to where they are going to hunt or what to do when they get here.I would suggest making a trip this summer to do some footwork.Bang on a coupe hundred doors or scout some public land. There hundreds of outfitters you could contact.

Welcome aboard! If you will be hunting without an outfitter, I too would suggest at least one scouting trip to attempt to secure some private ground or explore some public land. There are some fantastic bucks in Iowa but they are not hiding behind every tree as some hunting videos or articles lead many to expect. You will get out of your trip what you put into it and you'll never regret putting in too much work.

Good Luck!:way:
