Nice Surprise

I've been running a camera on a mineral lick on this farm all summer. Moved it into the hay field a week ago and this dude shows up. Might just have a new target buck. Found a large fresh scrape too. Gonna put a cam on it and see if we can get him in hardhorn. It's getting close.:D Oh any guesses on score? I like hearing everyone's opinions.

This guy's been hanging with him.

Bout the only thing you can't tell from the photos is spread. Otherwise, he looks to have quite a bit to contribute to scoring (i.e. beam length, tall tines, lots of tines, etc). Good luck with him this fall. :way:

Not picking on ya BJohnson, moreover picking on the scoring system, but in regards to "spread credit", where else when scoring a rack can you measure air??

I like 'em tall and tight.:way:

I sure get excited when I have 6x6's around!!! Hope he has and does pass some more 6x6 genes around! Sweet buck. He getting a pass or an arrow? My gut says he'll be bigger next year BUT obviously that's your choice- just curious what you're thinking? Good luck and nice pics!

Skip I've got a few old bucks that I'd really like to kill this year but I'm not gonna say I'd pass this deer. If he sqeaks thru I'm fine with that. He'll be a toad next year. I'm really hoping to get some better picks of him in hardhorn. Last year I had two bigger 6X6's on another farm and I know one made it thru. He's top priority but I've yet to see him this year.

I'm really due to kill something. Last year I had a 170 class 8pt at 15yds and never got an arrow in him. I hunted that buck for a month and a half after that encounter. Later I found out the neighbor killed him not long after I saw him. That hunt still haunts me and I don't want to finish the season empty handed this year. I plan on shooting the first one that makes me happy.:D
