I was up at 6 am today, getting ready for my son's baseball tournament that wound up being canceled. When I got the newspaper off the front step, I saw nightcrawlers on the street. I grabbed a container and quickly picked up 4 dozen, figuring I'd go fishing.
I still had the little grub tied on from the last fishing trip, so I started casting with that. I started catching fish immediately, so I forgot all about the nightcrawlers. I caught four "nice" bass, with this one being the largest:
I started working my way around the pond, casting as I went. I happened to glance down at some movement in the water right next to shore and saw this little guy:
I continued along the dam, getting to the far end of it when I hit a pocket of bluegills. I would catch one of this size about every second or third cast.
I caught 15 standing in this spot (I'd caught about 15 before getting to this spot). The last one I caught was hooked deeper than I could get without pliers and I left those on the bank where I started. After walking back to the pliers, I figured I'd caught enough fish for one session and headed home. Never did use a nightcrawler to fish with, tossed them in feed the fish.:way:
