For me, this is like deja vu all over again. Not to date myself, but when I was in school, we were saddled with Ken Trickey and Lynn Nance after the untimely death of another great Iowa coach, Maury John who left a successful program at Drake.
After suffering through miserable seasons that also came with some scandal, we snagged Johnny Orr who brought long-term stability and put ISU basketball on the map. Hopefully, McDermott will do the same.
