non resident archery tag application

Hellow fellow hunters, I'm new to the site and i'd like to say hi to all of you all. First off im from Western Ky and have been wanting to apply for a archery tag in Iowa. I was hoping i could get some help on a few things, To brief me on the whole process. How much is it to apply for the drawing? I know it's like 551$ or so for the tag if drawn. But how much is the cost to apply? Another question i have is does anyone have any advice on what area to apply for and which areas not to. I would be willing to payy someone to show me around or if some one would kindly give me information on a good public area to hunt. I'm not tryin to get somebodys honey hole jus need a little direction. I know nothing about whitetail hunting in Iowa. If somebody helped me and ever decided to come to kentucky to whitetail, turkey or duck hunt i'd be more then willing to help them out with some public land hunting here. If anyone could help me with some of this information it would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to post on here or shoot me a email. Thanks for all of yalls time.

I think you missed the dead line for this year. I belive its $50 per preferance point. And you can get 1 a year. Most of the time you draw your 3rd year.

You either have to buy a $55 preference point or you have to ante up the whole $550 and if you don't get drawn you get a refund check in the mail in July or august. I think the app time is early May to June 5. Preference points used to be $10, now they are $50. Buy a preference point atleast 1 year before you try to get drawn. You may tag drawn second year but most likely will get drawn 3rd year. Not living in Iowa, so I am no good to help you find a spot.
