Non Typical really broken up now!

Re: Non Typical realy broken up now!

He'd better slow down or he'll be an open plains deer, that guy is a tree killer!

I think it would take more than rubbing on trees to crack massive bone like that. I vote for the bigger bad-ass in the woods theory. Let us know if he shows up.

After looking at that third picture again, I'd say that you are lucky to still have your camera! Almost looks like he see's his reflection in the lens and is ready to kill something!

Re: Non Typical realy broken up now!

I let him walk Saturday morning, he spent 10 minutes working a scrape 20 yard from my stand. He should be great next year.

Pete, you better get some extra anti persperant for shotgun season. With all the seed you are sitting on for next year, you will be sweating shotgun season more than most I would guess. I really hope we get to see him next season. He looks to be on the way to very special.

with how aggressive he appears to be, I would try to take him early in the season next year before he gets all broken up again.

I believe that most the damage done to deer antlers is from trees. I suppose some of it could happen sparring but when you see locked bucks dead from not being able to break an antler and free themselves it makes me doubt that antler to antler contact would do all that damage. He's got a load of tree bark in his bases as well and seems to be taking out his frustration on them.

I would agree that trees would cause the most breakage, but I have on two separate occasions found parts of broken antlers in a CRP field with no trees in the immediate area. That indicated to me that there had been a little scrum and somebody got busted up a bit.
