North Central Iowa Hunting?

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen Hunters. I have a question about the quality of hunting in Iowa. Being new here. I get the general feel, deer hunting is supposed to be better south, but what are some good hunting Counties in Northern, and North Central Iowa? I suppose land prices are higher North than south too? Thank you for any input.

I think anywhere where you can find a decent plot of hardwoods in North and North Central Iowa will hold big bucks, I am in the East so not much help but the guys I know that hunt in the North Central area all seem to do just fine.

Timbered ground is not very common north of highway 30 and what is there is very difficult to obtain access on. You are correct that recreational land prices are higher in those areas of the state (from my review of classifieds and realty listings). Strictly a supply and demand thing from my perspective.

loneranger,

There's plenty of good hunting to be had in the north central region. I have hunted the area for several years with success and know several others who have as well. Though the timbered areas may be a bit more spread out or not as large as in the southern and northeastern regions, don't be discouraged - there's still some great hunting to be had, not to mention some great bucks!
