Northeast/ Southeast Iowa

I have been kicking around the idea of selling our house here in Pella and moving out east where there is more timber.
Does anyone recommend an area to move to that has good schools, low crime, and good Deer/Turkey hunting.Waterfowl is a bonus, but I could get by without it. Pella has a bad rap with some being snooty but it very hard to beat for raising kids, good schools and low crime/ troublemakers.
I travel for work and can pretty much live anywhere within reason. But want to try to keep in a decent area for the kids.

Timber here is very patchy and difficult to find a low hunting pressure patch or get permission at all for that matter. Would like to buy a decent size acreage to do some QDM.I guess I lean towards Southeast for the cost of land seems to be lower but am open to any. Close access to river or lake is prefered for fishing as well.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hello, Look at comming to our community of Woodbine. We are among the Loess Hills in Western Iowa. Small town of about 1600. Lots of State Ground and most of the locals will give permission to hunt. Deer and Turkey are Plentiful. We have a new school and would welcome new families. Class 1A in sports and good academics. We are 45 minutes from Omaha/Council Bluffs. Housing is afordable as well. The community is great. We moved in about 11 years ago and have not regretted it at all. Good luck.

I happened into Delaware county last week during a drive and couldn't believe some of the land up there. There is a little stretch of road between Monticello and Hwy. 20 that looked like paradise. Hilly with lots of oak ridges and creek drainages all full of timber.

The grass is always greener. I think the sameway, but have considered moving closer to Pella.

Whack-N-Stack,

Maybe you should consider moving to Knoxville! haha, j/k, I know the two schools are rivals....What about the small town of Harvey to the south of Pella?
