Obama Calls for Gun Treaty Reinstatement

After meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon last Thursday, President Obama has blamed Mexican drug violence on the U.S.

Obama supports recent talks of a semi-automatic gun ban, but the ban is not likely to pass through Congress.

Instead of the ban, Obama has called for the reinstatement of a treaty requiring all countries within the northern hemisphere to mark all weapons produced by manufacturers in a country.

"I will not pretend that this is Mexico's responsibility alone. The demand for these drugs in the United States is what's helping keep these cartels in business," Obama said during a joint news conference with Calderon. "This war is being waged with guns purchased not here, but in the United States. More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that line our shared border."

The proposed treaty will face major opposition from Second Amendment rights activists.

So is it a crime to be a criminal or just a gun owner? If we would would punish people for the crimes they commit instead of sending them to resorts they call prison, 99.9% of these crimes would stop. Public hangings were a good deterrent.

It is pretty easy. You take the guns that are seized in Mexico and trace the serial numbers to the original purchaser and start interviewing people and find out how the guns are getting to Mexico and start putting people in Prison. Problem solved instead of punishing the law abiding gun owners.

More laws do not work. It has been proved time and time again.
