A friend of mine just sent this to me. Is this the response that everone is getting?
Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for contacting the office of Governor Terry E. Branstad regarding the deer population in the state of Iowa. As you know, this is an issue that affects many Iowans and Iowa businesses. While the state of Iowa has many hunters that enjoy the sport of deer hunting, we must also keep in mind the impact of the deer population on property owners, motorists, airports, and on the cost of insurance policies.

As such, Governor Branstad does not support increasing the deer population in Iowa, as it would increase the risk for motorists on our roads and increase damages to personal property. Governor Branstad has, and will continue, to listen to both sides of this issue and will review administrative rules or legislation that references this topic with your thoughts in mind.

Again, thank you for taking time to contact our office. We appreciate hearing from you and hope you will not hesitate to contact us again in the future.

Sincerely,

Julie Vande Hoef
Policy Advisor

Pockets of high deer populations. Many of which the state Regs aren't going to change. Way too many areas of TOO LOW populations though- MOST of the whole top 2/3rds of the state. He won't support "Increasing deer numbers"???? How about just not continually & increasingly reducing populations in areas to ridiculously low levels which are getting equally low hunter satisfaction rates? How about we just completely eliminate deer in Iowa? There's more to this, Farm Bureau has to be at part of the core of this issue.

Your damn right there's more to this. Money is the root of all evil, and I think Brandstad is seeing plenty from the other side.

For the counties that do in fact exist that have far far too few deer and lots of dissatisfied hunters that are hunting deer WAY BELOW CARRYING CAPACITY....
Those counties, you could get 25-50 guys together and each buy 15+ doe tags & execute your right to not fill them. ?????

same response i got. although hotmail's anti virus flagged it with this:
This message looks very suspicious to our SmartScreen filters, so we've blocked attachments, pictures, and links for your safety.

suspicious indeed. full of bullshit

I don't think that will solve the problem at all. The DNR gets your money, and the antlerless seasons go on for more years. After all the money is the real driving force behind this. I suggest hunters boycott the antlerless tags all together. I believe that will get far more attention.

You got what you voted for.
while not lower the doe tags sucks, I voted for a conservative who would get us back on track and get Iowa's economy rolling again. So if the trade off is another year of these sh*tty seasons and tags, so be it.

I usually try not to get into politics on here BUT.... I honestly don't follow the IA governor position like I should. For the little I've followed it, I did NOT like Culver what-so-ever. I know little about Brandstad & now know mostly how he relates to hunting BUT not the million other issues that affect us. I do know, I don't want more flaming liberals in government. I've watched Liberals overwhelmingly win elections from the 2006 midterms where they've been in charge of both houses of congress and presidency since 2008 & it just proves what I already knew, it reinforces how Liberalism based on emotion, fantasy, they've destroyed many aspects of our country and they're corrupt as any politician. "Hope & Change", let me know how that's working out. Sorry for the political reply, I do try and limit this and I know folks will disagree with me, got it BUT a lot more to it than one issue & I see example after example of Liberalism on a rampage & what POLITICIANS in general will do & why we shouldn't have a lot of faith in them.

I agree that Branstad is basing his decision off of money, that is all he cared about when he saw this is my opionion. You guys should definitly watch the videos of the discussion of the Drury brothers and the IDNR, they really hit on a ton of key points. Brandstad should watch them and then I would like to hear his response.

before you no it, they will pass a law sayin you can hunt anywhere you want, to lower deer population, all iowa ground is now public

Finally got a response from the govenors office myself. What a crock, word for word form letter same as the others. I sent another letter baching him for not given a resident the time of day. Probably wont do any good but it felt good to get it off of my chest. What a jackwagon.
