I have an old Buckshot 35 that a bear got at a few years back and it hasn't worked since. Can it be reworked for a digital camera set up and how hard would it be to do this type of conversion. Also would like to have it become a infrared instead of flash if possible and not to expensive. Would like to do this as economically as possible as am on disability. Thanks for any help on this.

Don't mean to take away your optimism but the short answer is no on both accounts. Some existing digitals can be hacked for IR but even the majority of those end up benefiting greatly from a slave flash.
