old computer new cards - tip

It took me all summer and one simple phone call with a buddy to realize that my old computer would not accept HC (High Capacity) SD cards. If your machine locks up and won't down load look at the card, does it have a "HC" on it? That may be your issue. I just thought I'd post here in case it helps someone else.

Yup I have the same issue with my old computer. I bought an "SDHC" card adapter from Walmart for $10. Plug the SDHC card into the adapter and then plug the other end of the adapter into the USB slot. Reads SDHC cards for me no problem now.

Computers! My wife's laptop at home won't read my old SD cards, just the new ones. Computer at work, which is older than dirt, has no problem. Finally just upgraded to all new cards so I can check them at home. Maybe I just needed an adapter too...

The adaptor is the way to go. What can also get you is how the card was formatted. Might not be able to be read by PC if formatted by a Mac. Make since? I can help out with any questions ~ Hardwoods Tech

Good tip. My laptop will read both, luckily, but I also have an adapter to view them on the PC. I have one camera that uses SD only, and the others will use either SD or SDHC.
