I have on more year of high school left and have no idea on what i am going to do after school??
So i was wondering wat you guys all do for a living to give me some ideas for the future?
 
Enroll in college or community college and get your general ed classes out of the way. You don't need to know exactly what you want to do your first few years of school. You'll soon figure out what your interested in.

Get in a routine of getting your work done before extracurricular activities.

Study hard and play hard and you will be rewarded!!!

College was a great part of my life. My degree opened doors and actually I'm in a completely different line of work. I use to be a Ranger with the Corps of Engineers in northern MN. It didn't pay well but it gave me other opportunities.

Stay in school, start an Associates degree in some general field such as liberal arts or business. Try and get some internships during the summer in some of the fields you begin developing an interest in. From there you can start making some decisions about what you want to do, how much education you will need, and what skills you need to develop. I've never known anyone who said they regretted their education.
 
Pick a university that is at least an hour from home and go there right out of high school. Don't hang around your hometown for a year or two taking part time classes at a community college. Jump into a 4 year program and get it done. Any university worth its name will have countless resources on campus to help guide you into a career path.

School is definatley worth the time. It seems like a lot but you'll be done before you know it. I'm starting my last semester of classes next month. Just a hint for when you do start school, try to schedual your classes on tuesdays and thrusdays if you can. I have done this for the last few years. You may have to take some 8:00am classes but you will have 4 day weekends touse for your hunting and fishing enjoyment. A four year degree is worth exponetially more than the time and $$ you put into it. Good luck!!
 
Anymore, as technology evolves ever faster, people change careers several times during their life. So try to get a well-rounded education that can serve you well no matter what you eventually end up doing.

It's possible that you'll find a job you really enjoy, but don't lose sight of what's really important in life. This will probably sound cynical, but in many ways a job or career just provides the means to do the things we really love.
 
I went to college and majored in Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA Compliance). I hated college but I stuck it out. I worked 4 years for companies manging thier loss control programs and then another 5 managing a Human Resource Department. I now own a consulting business providing Human Resource, Training and Development and OSHA Compliance assistance to companies.

If I had to do it all over again, I have no idea what I would so. Business is a great field. You can do human resources, sales, management, finance, accounting. It has a really broad base.

In my profession, the experience I have is more important than the education. I work in the area I went to college for about 25% of the time. The rest of my job I learned while at work.

Go to a 4 year school or university right away. You'll figure out what you want to do eventually. BUT GET A 4 YEAR DEGREE UNDER YOUR BELT! It opens up many doors that you can't even begin to imagine right now. Pile on the credits early so you can get out in 4 years and still hunt like a madman when you are a junior and senior. (What the heck am I trying to say....I hunted like a madman regardless of my class load!)

I met my best hunting buddies at the university. We still get together as much as we can to hunt, fish, and hunt some more.
 
A bachelor’s degree is becoming almost the equivalent of a high school diploma. Look for a field that you can become specialized in, something that you can get a advanced degree in. You need to find something that sets you apart from everyone else. Medical and healthcare fields are a great way to go. Community college is a great way to get started, its easier than highschool. You go to a major university for four years and it will kill your GPA.
 
I guess that IF I were to do it all over again I'd have gone to a school and specialized more than I did. Scott hit the nail on the head with that statement. Then, after my 4 year undergrad I'd go straight into a Masters program and become even more specialized. It's just about the only way a person can go anymore. Scary thing is that even those people with Masters degrees are becoming more and more common. Good luck, study hard and stick it out.
