.......could go to an ARCHERY shop and come home with this:

That ole Boyd is a pretty slick sales guy. I went to Buck Hollow Sports thinkin about buyin a bow, decided what I have just needs some tweekin, and I end up with a gun. Damn the luck.

Oh yeah, the cats haven't come outa hiding since I took it outa the case.

Oh oh yeah, I also ended up with a tweeked up bow. I did hear him say on my way out the door that he was gonna have to close his shop for a few hours to disinfect it after a Mathews was in there. I prefer to think my Mathews, and the Mathews that another IBA member who's name I didn't catch, actually added some class to the joint.

Oh oh oh yeah, my SQ2 is NOT an antique! Obsolete technology or not.

so bonks, did you shoot any of the new bowtechs while you were there, or were you a chicken?

(ps, buckmarks are the best pistol out there. i've had a standard for close to twenty years, best toy i have)

He shot a Bowtech Guardian when we were there a couple of weeks ago. I was the one that was too chicken to shoot it. I had just had Boyd put a new string/cables on my Legacy and figured I needed to milk a few more years out of it.

To be honest, over the past few weeks I have shot the Drenalin, two Bowtechs the Gaurdian and the longer A:A (Commander?), two Diamond bows the Black Ice and one who's name I can not remember. Here is my evaluation:

The Drenalin: smooth draw cycle, felt good in the hand, quiet but lots of hand shock. It felt like a fast bow.

The Gaurdian: the draw cycle was uneven in that the pull got progessively harder the farther back you pulled it, then when you hit the spot where the cams rolled over, or what ever happens, I felt like I was gonna pull the release off the bow string because I was pulling so hard. I don't know if that makes sense, but I didn't care for it. The grip was excellent, it felt very comfortable in my relatively small hands. It was super quiet with absolutley no hand shock.

The other Bowtech (Commander?) I was prejudiced against it because I prefer shorter A:A length so It wouldn't be fair to say anything about it.

The Diamonds: These bows I liked alot, even, smooth effortless draw cycle. Smoother than the Dernalin with no hand shock. Good balance and as quiet as any of the others. I believe they are a few FPS slower than the Drenalin. I was shooting one at Buck Hollow Sports that didn't even have a sight on it and I was shooting 4 arrows into three inch groups (Boyd was a bit peeved because I took a chunk outa one of his range arrow nocks).

I shot the Drenalin at Fin and Feather in Iowa City and CIA in DSM. I shot the Bowtechs and Diamonds at Scheels in Coralville and Buck Hollow near Pella.

My conclusions: I'da had to flip a coin between the Drenalin and the Diamonds. I didn't like the hand shock of the Drenalin but it felt like a more powerfull bow than the Diamonds. I liked the smoother draw cycle of the Diamonds over the Drenalin and no hand shock but the arrow seemed to be slow off the bow. I think if I had to flip a coin I would hope the side of the coin that came up was the side for the Diamonds. I think the Diamonds are a better value for the money.

Having said all that, I decided to save my money. There are still plenty of kills left in my SQ2.

Interesting Bonk. I have a friend who got a sweet deal on a Diamond Liberty. I can't believe how quiet and nice the draw cycle is. He is very happy with it. Haven't chronographed it yet. He doesn't even care about that.......... but I'm curious.

I think your review is pretty fair, the unsmooth draw cycle is always what has steered me clear of the Bowtechs. Anyone happen to shoot the Ross Cardiac yet?

should have shot the allgiance or tribute with smooth mods. slight amount of hand shock, should get taken out by an sts...and the allegiance is faster than any of the other bows mentioned

Bonker you just made me feel a whole lot better about my Black Ice purchase. I love the bow, but not crazy about the string leeches. They are junk. But I think with a few new leeches, limb savers, and an STS, she'll be quiet as a mouse. A mouse that's gonna harvest a P&Y this year!
