I know this wont be a popular answer, but let me ask anyway.

How many of you would shoot a deer in a high fenced area on a highly over grazed pasture over a feeder.

Now how many would shoot a pig or hog that was purchased for someone to come shoot in the same scenario.

Enjoy your hunt.

Pig yes deer no. This is just something different and fun with great hosts a true get away, low pressure, no stress good time.. Though after hunting these things in a fence I have a lot of respect for them I have shot pigs that were at least 6 years old from the original stocking they are tough to hunt If we had pigs here like we have deer and no deer I would probably would shoot a deer in a fence and not care to shoot a pig in a fence.

So if I understand what your saying ...its ok and ethical to shot pigs in a fenced area but not deer, because its fun and their great hosts ?

Its not like a 20ac feed lot and the pigs are not continually restocked, they are a self sustaining heard. Its not an overgrazed place that has no food source other than feeders, if you go when the acorns are dropping you wont be able to shoot a pig over the feeders it looks a lot like oak timber here except for the red dirt. Heck I had my best sit on a heavily wooded trail with no feeder anywhere near me. Theyre not dumb animals, fence or no fence, feeder or no feeder you still have to hunt just like you would a wild deer or your not goin to get them into bow range. Like Central Iowa said its a fun get away and something a little different to occupy your time in the off season not too mention a good change of scenery. Its deffinately not like shooting fish in a barrel but no its not the same as shooting a booner on public ground in Iowa, I dont go for a "trophy" or bragging rights just a fun time and some pork in the freezer. Youre entitled to your own opinion but please dont turn this into an ethics thread.

Ok, this is my last post on the subject....

Ethics are ethics no matter what the animal aren't they ?

I have drove by Boar Ridge when down in Oklahoma visiting friends in a little town near there call Tryon. I drove by thinking that it may have been a opportunity for a good hunt, but what I seen during the time frame I drove by was high fence, burned out over grazed pasture and feeders.

If this was about a high fence Deer hunt would ethics be called into question then ?

I have been on this board long enough to see the reaction to high fence deer hunts, and really wondered why it was different hogs ? and why ethics are called into play when its deer and not called into play for other animals ?

Anyway I knew I was going to be popular posting this stuff and I am done with the subject.

Really, is that what I said? Fun hater.

Boar Ridge is on a dead end in the middle of a section good luck on on your drive by evaluation.
